Contacted Georgia EPD Waste Management
Contact with Waste Management Program at the Georgia DNR EPD
On May the twelfth 2025 at 4:30pm, the waste management department of the Georgia Department of Natural resources was contacted to inform the authorities of a suspected brown field located where the McCollum Bros Junk Yard used to stand. With the help of artificial intelligence, an estimate of the volume of potential toxins was calculated. The most surprising of which was the gallons of mercury suspected to be distributed throughout the ground.
Having grown up nearly directly beside the former junkyard, has placed us in the position of being one of the few people in the area who knew exactly what was contained within the junkyard. Even then, our knowledge only comes from driving past it so often. Regardless, satellite imagery easily proves it’s existance, and has lead to the conclusion of the salvage yard being much larger than first estimated.
Although the toxins will not lead to instantaneous death, the toxins do pose considerable health risks over time, especially in the laters portions of life. Every year, 400,000 people die as a result of heavy metal poisoning. Brown fields are not suitable for human habitation, and must be remedied by law.
