Law Enforcement
The situation was not fair to Law Enforcement
Note
Law Enforcement does not get paid enough for what they do.
If we have said it once, we have said it a thousand times: We did not ever want to be placed in this position, we did everything we could to avoid it, and now that we have been forced into it, we could not be any more upset about it. What has happened to us really is the culmination of the selfishness of several individuals, because from the beginning it was obvious they didn’t take the time to consider how what they were doing would impact other people who were not their intended target. Our mother is one of these people, their attack was just as much on her as it was on us, the neighbors who just happened to be caught in the cross fire, and they never stopped to think about how what they were doing would impact the members of the law enforcement community around us. The situation they forced us into, really placed law enforcement in a bad place, and that was not fair.
In retrospect, it was foolish for us to have made the assumption that what we were being told had any true reflection on reality, but to some degree that was out of our control. Before Doug even began squatting on Dayton’s property, we were already not having too much fun having someone else call law enforcement over to our house every time we stepped outside. Before opposing Abernathy’s solar power plant, we rarely if ever had law enforcement called on our house, it just didn’t happen. Then all of a sudden we oppose the solar power plant, and someone, we can all guess who, began calling law enforcement on us for every little thing. There was a time there when it sincerely felt, we were getting law enforcement called on us every time we walked out of the house. It was not a fair situation, to any of us. The law enforcement were getting the wrong end of the deal and so were we.
Whether to even mention it has been a topic of debate, because we should be thankful Law Enforcement were dedicated enough to do it, and the superior professionalism of at least four or five of the officers there, really made all the difference in the world. In those situations, character shines through, and these officers had it in abundance. So, what ever happens, it is not the intention to degrade their excellence. There were just some enigmatic peculiarities that regardless of the events, deserve recognition.
TBD.
For a summary:
We knew Chief Doug Matthews was screwing us over, which if we are all honest, obviously happened. At that time, we also knew that although Doug was acting as primary antagonist, Abernathy was behind it all, as he had been since the solar power dealings. We were watching Shane tear up the land across the street, and it was all pretty infuriating. We even knew at that time everything was intentional, it was all planned, and this was Abernathy’s revenge for opposing his megalomaniac will. So, once thoroughly angry enough to do something about it, we messaged shane and told him whatever he was planning, there was no need for it to lower the value of our property. The response we received back had all the ear marks of an individual with “anger issues”. One thing he made clear, was his intent to use his connection with Brad White, the county sheriff, to do whatever he “damn well pleased”.
This “as I damn well please”, is the exact same attitude we have received from everyone. They actually think they can screw someone over because they feel like it, and walk away unscathed. Which is just stupid, life doesn’t work like that. Sorry, we don’t give up that easy, and God doesn’t like like that. Never mind, losing every once of integrity you once possessed. Our nation is built on something called merit, which you don’t obtain from treating people like that.
Then this is when the law started getting dirty, because a few days later we received a trespassing warning. Which we refused to sign. They just don’t print those things out and sell them at walmart. First off, there is supposed to be evidence, which there wasn’t, because there was no trespassing. Second, all parties involved in the event need to be interviewed, and they certainly were not. So, the only way Doug could have acquired the trespassing warning would have been to abuse his office as Fire Chief and use his closeness to law enforcement to have a trespassing warning issued without due cause.
What happened was we used an easement that is held by three property owners, and is clearly identified on the property map. We had the permission from one of the three property owners to access the back of the property by using it. We did so to ensure Doug and Shane were not encroaching on her land. We walked back there, did our best to find the property boundaries with a cell phone, tried to mark it with signs as we were asked. We might have made a mess of things, but it could always be worked out later. It was on this trek, our old family friend lied to us about knowing what was going on. Just FYI.
Shortly after this excursion, is when Doug acted on his own behalf, and plowed a private road through the back of the neighbor’s property. Placing a permanent scar of the face of the land, and practically placing the neighbor in the position of only being able to sell Doug the land. So, he cheats someone else out of their property.
