Of all the people involved in the affair, the least able to possess any grievance against our family is the son of our former neighbor. Matthew is someone who we barely knew and have seen a grand total of twice in our life, out of which, only once can be confirmed. We know practically nothing of him, yet for forty-five years his father enjoined the hospitality and friendship of our family. We had thought highly of his father, and never recall being on anything less than good terms. Which falls short of providing an explanation of the events that occurred upon his father falling ill, and Matthew’s role in it.
In terms of cosmology, Matthew is the first mover, that is, without his cooperation none of what followed would have ever happened. His involvement in all that occurred from the beginning is quite apparent, and it speaks rather poorly of him. His actions were performed without causation or reason, and they were purely intent on malice. Matthew received no benefit from what occurred. Both his father’s house and the property across the street from us were sold at discounted rates, considerably less than what he would have received by other means. The sale itself was brokered by the Fire Chief, who did not possess a license, which placed him in a certain amount of legal risk. Then there were the months he allowed the Fire Chief to squat on his father’s property without rent or utilities. So in all, the only thing Matthew received from the deal was the satisfaction he hurt his Father’s good neighbors of forty-five years, which isn’t a very profitable exchange in the least.
The dissolution of his father’s estate had been planned, and was waiting on an ample opportunity to come into fruition. Which was provided when his father contracted COVID during the first wave of the pandemic, and was placed on a respirator in quarantine. In order to provide ample incentive, Matthew would list his father’s property located in town with the realtor next door. This would prove to be enough incentive to persuade the realtor to betray his late mother’s best friend, and a family that once had accepted him as family. The remaining land and house would be sold to the Fire Chief at a discount, and the sale of the remaining unoccupied land that stood across the street from our home would be entirely controlled by the Fire Chief for him to do as he wished with. There is no doubt the smear campaign played a major role in this arrangement, and the Fire Chief was the primary motivator, as he benefited the most.
Once it was decided to dissolve the estate, the Fire Chief put his home on the market and moved his family into a trailer on Matthew father’s land, doing so without any of the neighbor’s noticing, could not have been accomplished on accident and could not have been accomplished without Matthew’s help. The Chief then went about soliciting buyers for the property across the street from ours, showing the property to interested parties, filtering those he didn’t want, giving favor to those he did want, and acted as a negotiator between Matthew and the potential buyer. When interested parties inquired about why Mr. Dayton was selling the property, they were told he was tired of it, and when they inquired how to purchase it, they were told the Chief was controlling the sale of it.
During, the Chief’s role as broker, Matthew was perfectly aware of our numerous attempts to contact his father over the future of the land across the street from our home, he knew of our desires to buy it, and he knew of our disapproval of giving Chief Matthews complete control over it. This is because we mailed several letters addressed to his father to the home where Matt was residing, as it was listed in his father’s name and not Matthews. Not only did Matthew not inform his father about those letters, he opened them and shared the contents with the Fire Chief. Which could qualify as tampering with the mail.
As a result of Matthew Dayton’s actions, what we valued most in our home was taken from us. The individuals Matthew sold the land to have harassed and stalked our family since before they began to clear the land. The new neighbors built two homes as close to ours as the statutes could have allowed them, then they subdivided the remaining land into a subdivision. They destroyed everything we valued about where we lived, and it all seems a little too well planned for it to be coincidence.
